PRIDE Sound Therapy
Aug

PRIDE Sound Therapy

PRIDE is a busy, exciting, emotional, and often overwhelming week. Take some meditative time to decompress and reconnect with a sound bath facilitated by Soul Sonics Sound Therapy at Bumblebee Aerial Fitness.

$10 donation recommended at the door. Please bring yoga mats, blankets, pillows, bolsters – whatever you need to create a safe and comfortable space for yourself.

“Sound therapy is the use of different instruments and the human voice as a means of healing on the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual planes. Since all that we experience is vibrational or “energetic” in nature, any disease or discord in a person’s life has an energetic element that must be balanced in order to achieve true healing and harmony. Sound therapy is an intentional use of vibrations that aims to balance a person’s energetic field directly. Sound baths are performed for a group of people. We use crystal singing bowls, Himalayan signing bowls, gongs, chimes, shakers, drums and voice to create a deeply relaxing environment and opportunity for a subtle yet powerful energy shift to take place. Sound baths are performed stand alone and in tandem with other group healing work.” – Soul Sonics Sound Therapy

Death Song Doula Q&A

Death Song Doula Q&A

Trained death doula Lindsey Barnes will be hosting a Q&A-based discussion on how to navigate aging, illness and death with an emphasis on retaining one’s personal autonomy. Being in control of one's own dying process requires the advance planning of many decisions such as appointing medical representatives, articulating wishes for future medical interventions, vigil planning and after death care. In addition to learning the logistics of planning one's own end-of-life experience, participants will have the opportunity to openly share their feelings and fears surrounding death in a safe and supporting environment. Lindsey’s experience as a doula has taught her that the way in which we live is often indicative of the way in which we die. By helping people to prepare themselves for their transition from this life to the next, regardless of age or health, Lindsey helps individuals not only to die a good death, but to live a good life.

Jackie Rosebutch Presents: The Last Safe Place, A Queer Argument for Caretaking Our Environment

Queer people and nature have a tight, almost mycelial connection to each other. In this talk and discussion, Jackie Rosebutch, a drag Goddex and environmental science nerd, will look into how queer people find safety, solace, and connection in nature. The importance of nature to the queer experience creates an urgent case for environmental protections, especially as both the rights of queer people and nature are under attack. We will discuss what it means to caretake the environment through the lens of queer identity, joy, and pride.

Jackie Rosebutch is an Environmental Science & Sustainability alum of the University of Montana. Their Instagram and TikTok is @goddex_rosebutch, where they create and post videos about all things environmental science.

Rayless to Radiant:

Join us for the opening reception for this this vibrant and thought-provoking Pride art exhibit, I invite you to embark on a journey that explores the captivating theme of contrast. As we commemorate the rich history and ongoing struggles of the LGBTQ+ community, we recognize the importance of acknowledging the multifaceted nature of the world we live in.

Contrast helps us gain clarity and perspective in various aspects of life. When we encounter contrasting situations or ideas, it prompts us to critically examine and evaluate our beliefs, values, and priorities. This process can lead to personal growth, increased self-awareness, and a clearer sense of direction.

The artwork featured in this exhibit encompasses a range of mediums, styles, and perspectives. Each piece is an expression of the artist's unique vision, reflecting the diverse experiences of visual contrast.

"Rayless to Radiant: Embracing Contrasts and Diversity"

serves as a testament to the beauty that emerges when contrasting elements intersect. By embracing these contrasts, we acknowledge the kaleidoscope of experiences and identities that make up our diverse community.

May this exhibition spark conversations, open minds,

and pave the way for more growth in the light of contrast.

PLEASE NOTE: This exhibit runs through August 20th at the Myrna Loy Center.
